Waterman (water.swf, 2000)

Rebuilt from the water folder on a backup of my old hard drive. The date of this post comes from the last line of its WS_FTP.LOG, and the original water.swf plays below, menu and sound included, thanks to Ruffle.

On IRC I was Waterman (Because we are mostly water :p).

water.swf, December 2000. Press play, wait for the TV to sit down, and the menu works.

It’s all Flash 4, 700 by 450, with the quality set to “best” because why would anyone want less than best. LOL

The year 100

I uploaded it with WS_FTP, which keeps a log of everything it sends. This is the whole log:

100.12.10 15:45 B E:\Diego\water\water.swf --> ftp.brasilnet.net /water water.swf
100.12.10 15:45 B E:\Diego\water\water.html --> ftp.brasilnet.net /water water.html

Look at the year.

100.12.10 15:45…

Daaangg. A year before I was planning a buggy trip around South America to enjoy the last months before the Y2K bug ended everything. The world turned out fine and the bug just moved into my FTP client, which is convinced it’s the year 100, and honestly it isn’t far off, considering the speed of the upload.

P.S.: the same folder also has a bio.swi from SWiSH (the program that made every text on the internet fly in letter by letter), a subfolder called son full of sound effects for that SOM button, I suppose, with names like TireCobble.WAV, ViperHorn.WAV and Phantasmagoria 2 empty recycle bin.wav, and a Winamp playlist with 52 songs and a little over four hours of music, going from ATB’s “Hold You (Club Mix)” to a remix of “Livin’ la Vida Loca”, by way of Incubus, Fragma, the Goo Goo Dolls, Enya, three songs by No Angels and track 14 of the Dawson’s Creek soundtrack. I’m not explaining any of it.
