Hi, I’m Diego Dotta

Maker and rider of the chaos from ideation to iteration. Building in public.

  • The Early Bird Caught Me

A bird alarm I never bet on quietly beat every idea I loved, and figuring out why meant admitting I’d been reading my numbers backwards for years. I build things for fun, and to fix my own problems. That’s pretty much the whole business plan. There are no…

Profitable App V2

Bootstrapping isn’t sustainable if it keeps eating into my lunch money. It’s time to turn downloads into dollars.

Exercise every day

Every day, exercise is non-negotiable, just like brushing my teeth. Do you hear me, Dieguito? Take care of the body you want to wake up in tomorrow.

Live in different places

We’ll be nomading this year. We want to explore the US a bit more, looking for other places to live for a while. To be honest, I think it’ll be hard to beat the Bay Area.

Write once a week

Because great ideas don’t write themselves. A weekly ritual to clear my mind, share my journey, and occasionally make sense of the chaos.

Read 50 Books

Picture books to meditate, graphic novels to escape, and everything else to keep me from doomscrolling Instagram.

  • Listening

Music should be one of the essential elements of human life. ᕕ(⌐■_■)ᕗ ♪♬

These artists and channels help me get into the flow mode while coding or endurance high while cycling: Radio Paradise, Flavour Trip, HANA, Book Club, KEXP.

    • Work
      • Bird Rise had its best month yet. We crossed the $10k revenue mark. There are still some very annoying bugs that need to be fixed, though.
      • Smart Keys is the opposite story. The hard-paywall test showed lower trial conversion from day one, the Meta ads just aren’t performing, and putting its numbers next to Bird Rise is honestly brutal.
      • Prospera Forms is still the steady ground.
      • The social media agents keep getting better. Got the SWC one publishing, Bird Rise looks good, and Smart Keys is still the hard one (too many screen recordings). A few videos are sneaking up close to 1k views.
      • Writing more. Shipped a post about why Bird Rise is working and started shaping an article about what actually makes a “tribe” (it’s not a subreddit or a demographic, it’s something people are proud to wear on a t-shirt). I keep telling myself to block one full day a week just to organize cards and write. Maybe I actually will.
    • Relaxing
      • Spend Mother’s Day with family in a cozy café on a farm. (I caught the flu from my nephew :p)
      • Still enjoying my time here in Ratones, with birds joining us during breakfast and lunch. Playing with Polen and Liz. We had such a great time hanging out in Santo Antonio and at Ratonarte, the local art and gastronomic fair where I used to run the smallest, biggest cinema for kids. I was so surprised when I found out that Leandra and I were featured on a billboard celebrating the 31 years of the grassroots organization that runs the event (Amora – Associação dos Moradores de Ratones).
      • I finished Clear Thinking. Some chapters are interesting, but others are like “how to be a high achiever” guides, which is not what I’m looking for in my reading. I’m reading now Making Sense of Word HIstory.
      • Took a couple of days off to celebrate the $10k milestone. Funny thing though, the numbers keep climbing and I keep refreshing RevenueCat every hour, but it’s bringing me less joy than I expected. A bit of a low-mood stretch. I’m trying to check RC less and feel a little more.
      • Got my passport sorted so fast. Small win, weirdly satisfying.
    • Exercise
      • Honest update: May knocked me down for a bit. Got sick mid-month, even had some blurry vision that made working hard. Feeling better now, not 100% yet. Easing back toward the stubborn goal of the year: move every single f**ing day.

Why am I writing here?

Every time I start writing about something, I end up doing some pretty unexpected research or connecting the dots to an insight. Those things usually turn into rabbit holes, which I totally love falling into.

I wish I had written more when I was younger, especially as a teenager. I always have so much fun reading stuff I wrote 20 years ago.

It also helps me lock in some memories, which I think is really important these days. I hope it can also help someone else on their journey. Plus, it makes me grateful and helps me remember the people who were somehow part of it.
