Weekend Rides, Autumn 2005

Originally posted on Multiply (diegodotta.multiply.com), the photo blog I later called “Veio a passeio ou a trabalho?” (“Here on vacation or on business?”). South of the Island

6 March 2005

We took a motorcycle ride around the south of the island, and this time another biker couple came along, Jaisson and Maria, on their Honda Falcon 400.

It was a great day, and we used it to test our new intercoms (Talk About) so we could talk while riding.

We visited both sides of the south of the island, first Ribeirão da Ilha on the west coast, then Pântano do Sul and Solidão beaches on the east coast, facing the open sea.

Balneário Camboriú

27 March 2005

To celebrate Raquel’s birthday, we decided to spend the long weekend in Balneário Camboriú.

First we thought about going by motorcycle, then by bus, but in the end we went by car, thinking the city wouldn’t have decent transportation… we were wrong, the city does tourism really well and gives visitors lots of ways to get around and have fun.

Before reaching Balneário we went through Itapema and the area around it, and the only thing we regretted was the date, since summer season wasn’t over yet and hotels and everything else were fairly expensive. On the way back we decided at the last minute to spend one more day out, so we drove into Porto Belo and stayed at a really nice pousada in Bombinhas.

Garopaba

23 April 2005

Garopaba is a town made of gorgeous beaches. We couldn’t visit many, but the few we saw were worth it.

We left Florianópolis (me, Raquel, Jaisson and Maria) on the bikes (an XTZ 125 and a Falcon 400) on Saturday morning, after picking the destination the night before.

We even tried the intercoms, but the noise inside the helmets was a problem. It was my first time on the highway with the XTZ, and it behaved well, considering there were two of us on it.

The first stop was Praia do Rosa, where a surf championship was going on. I missed some good shots of it because we stayed on a part of the beach far from the crowd.

On the way back we visited Ouvidor and Ferrugem beaches. Around there we spent a good while on dirt roads.

I wasn’t really in the mood for a ride, but it turned out to be worth it. We got home after 200 km (round trip) tired and dirty, the dirt roads and the BR 101 traffic wore us out.

Well, we’re tired of beaches, next time we’ll run away to the countryside or try a big city, any ideas?! :P

Parque Serra do Tabuleiro

26 May 2005

On May 26, 2005 we went on another of our motorcycle rides, this time to the Serra do Tabuleiro State Park. Unfortunately the park only opens on weekdays, so we used one of the few holidays this year to see it.

I recommend it, it’s a good place for photos and great for taking the family too.

The photos were taken with a Canon A400 and a Minolta Z3, by several photographers, hehehehe…

Foz do Iguaçu

2 June 2005

On June 2, 2005 we traveled from Florianópolis to Foz do Iguaçu. The point of the trip was to attend conferences on Italian Language and Culture.

The conference itself wasn’t very well organized and I thought I’d get more out of it, but that’s fine, the walks around the city, the sights and the group we traveled with made it worth it.
